The Rwanda national team defeated Gorillas Handball Club 35-25 in a preparatory game ahead of the 2022 Africa Junior Men’s Handball Championship (CAHB) scheduled on 20th to 27th August in Kigali, Rwanda.
The tournament will serve as a qualifying competition for the 2023 IHF Junior Men’s World Championship, taking place in Germany and Greece from June 20 to July 2.
Prior to the start of the championship on Saturday, the Rwanda national team which recently had an intensive camp in Huye, played against Gorilla HC on Tuesday in a build-up match and won 35-25 in BK Arena.
The hosts will take on the Central African Republic at the opening of the 29th edition of the Junior Men’s Africa Championship on Saturday, August 20 at the BK Arena at 6 pm.
Rwanda is in Group A alongside Tunisia, Morocco, Angola, and the Central African Republic, whereas Group B consists of Egypt, Algeria, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, and Libya.
Day One fixtures include Congo vs Chad at 10 am, Algeria vs Libya at 12 pm, and Tunisia vs Angola at 2 pm while the opening ceremony will occur at 5 pm.
